Pratt Museum

Make sure that while you are in Alaska you check out the Pratt Museum it is located about 200 miles south of Anchorage, right on the Kenai Peninsula. The museum is interdisciplinary and is the only one on the Kenai Peninsula. Their indoor exhibits focus on art, natural history, native cultures, homesteading, fishing, and marine ecology. Some of the other attractions focus on Alaskan wildlife, saltwater aquaria, and a very cool museum store.

Their attractions even change from time to time so make sure that you check out the website to see what they are featuring. The Harrington Cabin is always on display. It is a cabin filled with items that showcased hardworking people. They also have some beautiful botanical gardens that have a large array of over 150 plant species that are native to the area. The museum also offers various educational programs that take place throughout the year. Make sure to check out the website for more information about when those events are to take place.

Founders

The museum was built on land that was donated by Sam and Vega Pratt. Sam's collection actually helped to create and inspire the Homer Society of Natural History in the year 1955. The museum was later named for the Pratts because of their contributions.
